Parent Verification FAQs

1. Why do you need my personal information to verify my identity?

The privacy laws of certain countries require steps to be taken to verify your identity to ensure that the person providing parental consent is in fact an adult.
We operate several methods of verification depending on what country the parent is in.

Credit or Debit Card Verification (available globally)
By collecting your credit or debit card details and performing a successful monetary transaction, we will be able to verify that you are an adult.

  • If you are outside of the USA, no charge will be made to your card. Instead, a small amount will be temporarily authorized against your card and then released. Consult the table below to see which amount applies in your country.
  • If you reside within the USA, 50¢ (USD) will be charged to your card. This transaction will be refunded within 8-13 business days.

Social Security Number Verification (available only in the US)
Your full name, date of birth, full address, and last 4 digits of your SSN will be verified against a government database in order to confirm that you are an adult.

CPF Number Verification (available only in Brazil)
Your full name, date of birth, full address, and CPF number will be verified against a government database in order to confirm that you are an adult.

CURP Verification (available only in Mexico)
Your full name, date of birth, full address, and CURP ID number will be verified against a government database in order to confirm that you are an adult.

2. Will you need to collect my personal information more than once to verify my identity?

No. Once a parent/guardian has successfully verified they are an adult through SuperAwesome, we remember that they have been verified the next time they use their email address to manage their child’s permissions for other games/services which use SuperAwesome’s parental tools, unless they ask us not to. This is so that they won’t need to provide their verification information again. We call this network of verified parents/guardians the ParentGraph.

3. What verification methods are available in my country?

Certain verification methods are only available in select countries. When prompted to verify your identity, you will only be able to see the verification methods available in your country:

  • Credit or Debit Card Verification (available globally)
  • Social Security Number Verification (available only in the US)
  • CPF Number Verification (available only in Brazil)
  • CURP Verification (available only in Mexico)

4. Will my card details or national ID number provided during the parent verification process be stored?

We never store credit or debit card details or national ID numbers which you provide to us to validate your identity.  This information will only be collected for the sole purpose of verifying your identity. Once your identity has been verified, this information is deleted.

Our KWS privacy policy explains how SuperAwesome collects and processes your personal data.

5. Why was my credit or debit card charged by SuperAwesome?

When verifying your identity through the Credit or Debit Card Verification method, SuperAwesome will perform a monetary transaction.

6. You say my card has not been charged, but I can see the amount deducted in my bank statement.

If you see the charge in your bank statement, rest assured it will be refunded. Some banks show the pre-authorization as a temporary charge when the pre-authorization period crosses the end of a statement period.  The charge will nevertheless be released and will show up as a reversal in the next statement. Please contact your bank for more information.
